I heard these secrets from an old man I met at an auction in 1977. I still live by them today.
The auction was to raise money to plant trees in Israel.
Now, Diane and I weren’t Jewish, but the community was.
We had purchased a real estate firm in Southwest Houston and we were losing our shirts.
I was an accomplished Real Estate Broker at the time and an excellent salesman.
The problem was we weren’t Jewish and the area was. We heard about the auction and figured we’d go and donate some money.
One of our agents, Tammy, disagreed vehemently. She said we needed to score a good deal a great deal if possible.
That was a bit confusing for a couple of kids raised in Nebraska.
As my Irish luck would have it I scored the best buy of the day, a really beautiful leather jacket for $15.
It was quite an accomplishment at an auction for Israel. After I won the bid you could hear a pin drop.
It worked out better that I could have hoped. The exposure was great for my business. Getting a good deal was even better. It showed we belonged there.
Then only a few minutes later I scored really big. I learned the best success secrets of my entire life.

As everyone was leaving I received many congratulations, including one from a venerable old man.
He must have been eighty. What hair he had left was white and wiry. He stood less than five feet tall with a pronounced forward bend to his round frame.
His eyes were clear and strong.
He felt the fabric of the leather jacket I’d just bought for a song, looked me straight in the eyes and offered me $17 for the coat.
“Right now! Cash money!” He said as he clapped his hands together for emphasis.
When I graciously declined he said, “You own Castle Realty, don’t you?” So much for the community not knowing.

He voice went up to emphasize the importance of his question.
I had to admit I did not know.
Then he leaned close and whispered those secrets into my left ear. They made sense instantly. And I’ve followed his advice ever since.
Even now that I’m Rich Beyond My Wildest Dreams, I still rely on these three amazingly simple secrets as a fundamental part of my success in this earthly experience.
