"Lessons
From a Lion King"
At this time of year we all try to focus on ways to improve ourselves.
Lose weight, exercise more, stop smoking, increase our business,
pay off the credit cards. These are all good and noble and definitely
should command our attention and effort.
But to help
insure the success of all that work, I'd like to suggest that we
all vow to have more fun.
Last week we had the extraordinary pleasure of seeing the Broadway
show "The Lion King" in Hollywood. It is an amazing production
and I waited many months for this wonderful "fun". The
anticipation, and planning for this event was also part of the fun
of the experience.
I am a huge fan of live theater and movies and I often encourage
others to cultivate this enjoyment. As I watched the play and really
thought about the story I realized why I love theater and movies
so much.
Theater tells us a story, a life story. Stories that encourage,
explain, enlighten, help heal and show us how alike we all are.
Theater has been part of society as long as we have had civilization.
Sharing our life stories is basic to all humans.
"The Lion King" is familiar to millions throughout the
world because of the Disney movie and the story is one we need to
remember and experience over and over. Courage, overcoming adversity,
never giving up in the face of terrible odds and great pain, and
knowing that happiness and reward will come. These are life lessons
that we all can learn from and share with others. These lessons
come alive when we see them is live theater and movies.
When you've worked hard doing all the good things to improve your
life and move ahead, don't forget that watching a play or movie
can teach you something while you're having fun.
Give it a try.
Live your dreams everyday
